Sony says the latest PS5 update ‘improves system performance’

Sony Interactive Entertainment has rolled out a new PlayStation 5 system update.According to the company’s patch notes, version 22.02-06.00.01 was released on October 5.“This system software update improves system performance,” it said.PS5’s last system update before today, 22.02-06.00.00, was widely released in early September.Originally released as a beta version for select players in July, it introduced 1440p support, enabling those with TVs and monitors that support it to display games in that resolution.It also added the ability to create ‘gamelists’, which are folders that players can customise to split their library into smaller sections.PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst said this week that Sony’s growing focus on live service games doesn’t mean it’s planning to stop making the single-player story-based experiences the company is famous for.He also said Sony’s future console games will have to wait “at least a year” before coming to PC, aside from live service titles, which might launch simultaneously.The PlayStation Stars loyalty program, which debuted in Asia last month and will roll out in Europe on October 13, launched today in North and South America.October’s first wave of PlayStation Plus games were made available on Tuesday.
